Thank you for the privilege of leading this next chapter in the life of the CCOBA.
I am Blue Henderson, more formally known as Andrew Henderson (9710). People often think I inherited ‘Blue’ from my two-plus decades in the NZ Police, but, in reality, it harks back to my Scottish roots and my hair colour.
I have taken over from Angus Dysart-Paul as President of the CCOBA. Thank you for the opportunity.
I am immensely proud to be part of Christ’s College, as are my two sons, Lachie and Jono, now aged in their 20s.
For those who do not know me, I was in Corfe House from 1980–1983. From there, I studied farm management at Lincoln University, then worked for three years at PPCS, which has now morphed into Silver Fern Farms. As with most young people, I headed overseas for three years. Initially, I was in Scotland, where I was a self-employed rural fencer, and later moved to France with my wife, Kerry, where we ran a ski chalet and travelled extensively.
After returning to New Zealand in the mid-1990s, I set up a rural fencing business, coupled with working as a diving instructor and commercial construction diver, undertaking multiple commercial diving projects. In 1999, I joined the New Zealand Police, where I stayed for nearly 24 years. For most of that time, I worked in the Criminal Investigation Branch as a detective. In late 2022, an opportunity arose for a change, and I joined the commercial cleaning company Jani-King, setting up and running its sister company, JK Facilities Services.
One of the big drivers for me joining the CCOBA committee was the opportunity to be involved in the school’s 175 Years Celebratory Weekend in 2025. This will be an historic event, not only for the Christ’s College community, but for New Zealand. There are not many organisations in our young country that are still going strong after all those years, and it will be an exciting event. Click here to book.
I have always enjoyed getting out and meeting people and I am looking forward to doing plenty of that as President of the CCOBA while finding more ways to connect with one another around the world.
I also want to take the opportunity to congratulate our four new Honorary Life Members, former Deputy Headmaster Rob Donaldson, and Old Boys Peter Penlington, Tim de Castro, and Richard Batchelor.
Please get in touch with the CCOBA office if you have any feedback or if there is anything that I may be able to help you with.
Warm regards,
Blue Henderson
